Life is a wonderful thing. It has its twists and turns and keeps us guessing sometimes why things happen the way they do. Every now and then it surprises you with an experience of pure love and joy, completely "by chance" and you are so grateful for the moments. Last Saturday's wedding was one of those moments.

4 days before the wedding I had a call from Josephine, mother of the bride, frantically looking for a photographer. It is spring wedding season, so all us photographers are pretty busy at the moment, but with some juggling I was able to clear some hours and agreed to photograph the wedding.

2 days later I met the happy couple, Brett and Teresa. I immediately loved them because they were open and real. I could also see Brett just wanted to make this day the most amazing experience he could for his sweetheart Teresa, who is one of the most humble, yet big hearted people I have ever met. They are awesome people.

So the wedding day arrives and it is one of the most memorable I have ever experienced. So much love in such a small group of people and this photographer teared up...often! The heartstrings were playing a merry old tune all day in the presence of a family who have been through a lot and managed to remember what was important...eachother. There was laughter, tears, cute kids, wise kids, more tears and a general warm, snuggly blanket of love around everything, all afternoon. I think I OD'd on joy if that is possible!

Anyway, I am so glad Josephine made that call, that I answered and I could have one of those moments. Thank you.

Brett is a descendant of Farancois Girard, the same Girard that Lismore's Girard's Hill is named after. It only seemed right that we venture to the top of the hill for some couple photos.
