This mob were so happy to come together and celebrate the 60th birthdays of Tina and Eddie, who also celebrated their wedding anniversary earlier in the week. There were some beautiful sentiments shared in the many speeches, hugs all round, some deadly dance floor moves, the cutest jarjums and people with a rich shared life history, ready to party with the birthday couple. I grinned a lot. And everyone wanted their photo taken...it was great!
These two love each other soooo much...it was gorgeous to watch.
Happy birthday Tina and Eddie and here's to another 60 years together!
Big love to you from Natsky.
]]>So last Saturday, despite both of them vowing never to marry again, Jason & Kym said their new I dos to each other and created a gorgeous family, full of love, laughter and inspiration. It was a joy to watch two people embrace their day together, as they wanted to, with their favourite people...all 150ish of them!
...and that grin didn't leave Jason's face the whole day!
Ceremonies by Leisa delivered the fabulous ceremony and I'm not sure how she managed to continue through the laughter at times!
May the laughter carry on. Continue to keep it real. Wishing you mountains of happiness and sufficiently lubricated bearings to keep those wheels turning!
Thanks for having me. Big love from Natsky.
]]>Yesterday Tabs and Rebecca kept things simple and small, concentrating on what is important and saying 'I do' at Broken Head Beach. The autumn sun was out, the surf was up, smiles were shared and tears were shed. It was right for them. And that is what your wedding day is about...what is right for you. Embrace it and enjoy it.
Broken Head turned it on!
Heidi the Byron Bay marriage celebrant was brilliant!
The crowd on the beach cheered them on!
Then afterwards, it was a feast at Forest.
Congrats Tabs and Bec.Wishing you much love and endless happiness.
Hugs...Natsky.

Pre wedding shenanigans!
Alma taking flower girl duties seriously, but always smiling.
Celebrant Caz McCallum delivered another beautiful ceremony.
Pure joy!
Talking to Sanne's Papa overseas.
Showing off Aussie beaches to everyone at home!
And a bit of Aussie bush for young lovers to wander through.
May your life together be showered in happiness and good luck. Keep chasing your dreams.
Big love and hugs from Natsky.
]]>I first met the Lane family in 2011, when Brad and Clare were married and caught up with them in 2012 when brother Chris and Gen said their I Dos. Since then there have been family shoots, Christmas Carol catch-ups, streetside meet-ups and I couldn't wait to see them all again. So last Saturday I travelled to Hastings Point and met some of the more than 100 humans gathered, surrounded by laughter, reminiscing and the reminder of what is important in life...the people we love.
Arriving at Down Covery's Lane with their gorgeous children Harper and Darcy.
All the fabulous people gathered in the stables under the chandelier, ready to continue supporting this couple's marriage.
Byron Bay Celebrant Heidi, created a simple ceremony, honouring Kat & V's ten years of love.
I love it when the kids sign the marriage certificate!
So much love in this room.
The moment they spied their daughter Harper kissing a boy!
Time to go and have some laughs with their people. This is what this day was all about, sharing with the ones they love.
Ryder, Harper and a chaperone!!
Darcy had his own moves!
Tony and Kim deliver another gorgeous room for guests to enjoy. Was so wonderful to be back at Converys again. Sorry to give you heart palpitations (again!) Tony with my climbing antics! I just can't help myself!
Sister Cathy started proceedings before Harper gave a most beautiful speech for her mothers.
...and of course V cried...again!
Time to 'shuffle'...their first dance.
With so many kids present, Baby Shark and Mashed Potatoe went down a treat on the dancefloor and all the adults knew the words and actions!
Time for ice cream!
The happiness oozes out of Kat & V and the love and kindness they show for each other and those they love, is a beautiful thing to watch. This was a day of celebration; of their love, the family they have created with their children, of the people they live their life with. The tears were happy, the laughter relentless and the love palpable. Long may it continue!
Congrats to you both. Big love from Natsky.
]]>The occasions when people just go with the flow and allow themselves to be real in front of my lens...it's when you get gold. These are the times when I love what I do, when I get a peek into a beautiful family and their connections, when you see the best of people.
This is a family that laughs, that lives, that loves, that embraces their quirks and their weirdness and are up for an adventure.
I say thank you to the Martys for being brave and standing vulnerable in the cold, in front of my lens. Your weird is wonderful!
The love bus arrives with all the fabulous people.
Nicholas & Dimity arrived together in a vintage green Volvo!
Dimity made her own full-length, fully sequined gown.
The ceremony was a wonderful retelling of how they met and their first few dates...and no tracky dacks in sight!
Celebrant Caz McCallum was fabulous.
The reception was relaxed and the low murmur of laughter floated in the air.
We were treated to an amazing light show in the sky before temps dropped and the heaters were put to full use.
Wishing you both as much happiness as you can handle, as many friends as you need and all the time in the world to enjoy both.
Congratulations!
Big love from Natsky.

One hour of fun later, and new inspiration for business promo. Created a few different looks so she can keep things looking new for a while to come.

Welcome to the Zooniverse, where all your dreams come true...niverse!
Long may the weirdness continue!
Massive love from Natsky.
Julie transformed the house at Nimbin into a wonderland.
John cool, calm and collected before the ceremony.
Always time for some tunes hey Marcus!
And this was the setting Julie and John created for their wedding...just stunning.
The fabulous celebrant Rose Hogan enjoying a bit of luxe.
Mumma Eva helps Julie into her hand-beaded gown.
Covid has seen wedding gatherings often shrink to just the most important people in a couple's life. On this day there were 10 of us, creating a space of intimacy and love. Small means extra special.
Waiting for Julie to enter.
John was stunned but did eventually gather himself and retrieve his jaw from the floor.
May you both continue chasing your dreams, talking for hours and being creative. Wishing you much stardust
sprinkled happiness.
Big love...Natsky.
]]>The closing of the Queensland border at 1am on 8.8.20 meant that sister Robyn had to leave after Friday's rehearsal and miss Saturday's wedding. It was raining, the sky showing the sadness that was being felt. There were tears.
Joe and Katy practice at Friday's rehearsal.
With Saturday, the sun came out, as did the hair irons, bobby pins and hair spray!
The waiting...
Will Katy arrive before the rain?
Father Bernie, I want to bottle you and take you to all my weddings!
Yes!
I loved that their four sons walked Katy down the aisle.
Knew there would be tears!
Blessings with both the mamas.
Reception shenanigans were held at the Farm.
Brothers!
MC Franc kept everyone laughing and singing along with Amore!
Katy delivered her speech in Italian so mama Franka could understand...it was superb...
...and caused more tears!
Matt & Georgia were soulful.
All the love...
Wishing you more love and happiness than you know what to do with! You are beautiful souls who make the world a better place. Enjoy!

celebrant Sonia Steiner was there to say all the official things
the moment which caused much laughter...the moment Rob claimed Sherri as his "awfully" wedded wife

social distancing congratulations over the fence from the neighbours
with Rob's beloved Ducati
cuddles for Logan
looking and laughing through the comments and photos left after the live feed
So while social distancing may have kept family and friends physically apart, they were definitely there in spirit and their virtual messages created much warmth and laughter for the newlyweds to enjoy. Cos true love always finds a way!
Congratulations Rob & Sherri. Wishing you an awfully wonderful life together!
Big love...Natsky.

If there were any nerves, they certainly weren't showing. Bubbles with Cara and Kate.

Celebrant Sonia Steiner led them through some rather hilarious moments throughout the ceremony.

I covered their gorgeous wedding day back in 2015 and went home with a sore face from smiling so hard. It was a wonderful day.
Well Ian and Sarah came home to the Northern Rivers to spend some time with family over the festive season. I gatecrashed for a few hours to have a catch up and also to meet their cute and resolute 2 year old, Evie. I'm loving this kid's spunk!
Sarah with her other "man"...the colt Cold Steel.
The grandmother mare Butterscotch has become a fave with this animal-loving two year old.

The guys waiting for the gals.
I love than Ben is shaking father-in-law John's hand but only has eyes for Tania.
While Ben couldn't remember which pocket he had put his written vows in, Tania was totally prepared with a laminated version. Mums...they're prepared!

The beautiful setting at Bhadra, Brooklet.
Say hello to Claire...getting things organised for her future hubby.
And say hi to Josh, hanging out with fur baby Scrunchy.
Mama Faye adds the finishing touches.
Gorgeous flowers by Stalks and Stems.
When Claire was born, this lace handkerchief was given by her grandparents, to her mum, for safekeeping. It was to be given to Claire on her wedding day. Claire's grandparents are no longer with us, but the hanky was a beautiful reminder of their love for their granddaughter.
Made my heart all gooey at their foresight and love.
Faye, Colin, Denise and Katie sit with Scrunchy as celebrant Belinda leads them through their ceremony.
Two mamas Faye and Denise were the witnesses.
What would we do without our sisters to wipe away the tears?!
Scrunchy seems happy to no longer be a bastard!
These two are definitely in love and capable of intimacy and sweet nothings...
...but just as important, make each other laugh and not take things too seriously! Jellyfish!
Sisters!
Claire made the scrumptious cake...I know it was cos I had some!
With formalities over, it was time to relax, change into PJs and get dinner sorted!
Meanwhile, Faye sent photos to family scattered elsewhere.
Colin made me a cup of tea and told us about vintage cars.
Katie and Denise dream of faraway places...where it's not so cold...or was that me?!
An unusually chilled Scrunchy...maybe just happy and content for his parents.
The first time the bridal couple have been in PJs to cut the cake but I love your style!
Long may the love and chilling out continue! Hope the passports get used well and soon.
Thanks for letting me share your day and your family.
Big love and hugs from Natsky.

They walked the aisle together...
...with bouquets...
...which they gave to their mamas Narelle...
...and Carol on their way to the altar!
Now...let's get married!
Rose had us chuckling throughout with a brilliant, unique, personal ceremony.
Lotsa good stuff around these two.
The official bits.
Then we finished with an all in rendition of the Beatles' "All you need is Love" complete with kazoo solo.
So with the hugathon over and everyone else headed to the hall for the reception, it was some 'time-out' for the boys while I took photos.
By now the sky was dark and the thunder and lightening had begun. How long before we 'watered the garden'?!?!
15 minutes later and then this happened...wind, rain and a touch of hail!
It should only last 5 minutes right?
15 minutes later and we are still waiting for it to stop howling outside...it eventually did and then we left for reception shenanigans.
Bringing the joy.
There was a flamboyance of flamingoes in attendance.
Narelle was totally unaware just how much photo bombing was happening behind her.

]]>Last Saturday had me returning to the Numinbah Valley, the place I got hitched almost 15 years ago now, to photograph the wedding of Nirvana and Carlie...and it was wonderful, like some glorious Aussie love bush ballad come to life! Carlie and her girls arrived at the beautiful wooded setting on the back of a bullock train, ably steered by her papa Phil! Almost 200 family and friends were gathered in the dappled light, ready to hear "I do" and celebrate. As the river rippled in the background, the lovebirds exchanged rings, and under the treetops had their first kiss as husband and wife. Celebrations then continued in the heritage listed hall that is the Numinbah Valley School of the Arts, complete with live music, stunning flowers and scrumptious food. There were lots of hugs, tears and smiles but most of all there was love!
Great wedding date!
The groomsmen at the riverside counting down time with Nirvana.
Straightening of the bowtie.
George was always going to steal the show with his cuteness...I warn you now Carlie...there are a lot of George photos!
The girls are on their way.
Stunning setting.
Phil drives the bullocks to the ceremony. Bullocks at a wedding were a first for me!
Both dads walk Carlie down the aisle.
Carlie and Nirvana under the arbor made with love, for love.
First kiss!
Just a "small" country wedding!
Mamas are special.
So many cute kids!
Party time, kicking off with the first dance straight away...George was keen!
mmmmmmm...sugar!
Lanie you did a beautiful job with all the flowers...so much colour.
Lots of yumminess on offer!
Wishing you both continued love and happiness and a huge crew to share it with!

Liam and Laura are two of the most open, generous of heart, interesting, warm, quirky, down to earth, funny people I have had the pleasure to photograph and their whole day was just one heart melt after another. Take a look at the pics and you will get a slight inkling...
Hosanna Farmstay...were I found a valley full of fabulous people!
Family and friends had come from all over the globe to attend this wedding, and many were spending days camping and cabinning at Hosanna...this wasn't a wedding...it was a love festival!
The boys impressed with their bowtie tying skills!
While waiting, Liam entertained all with his flossing skills. Apparently he is shy!
Maid of Honour Tess had the most amazing smile.
Love it when both parents walk the bride down the aisle.
...to the waiting Liam.
Close to 200 people gathered under the trees to hear the vows of Liam and Laura, complete with giggles, dancing, tears and much love.
Celebrant Laurie Pollard did a great job, explaining that this was their "second" wedding!
Tess read a beautiful poem she had written, which of course had the tears flowing.
Ain't he just the cutest ring bearer you ever did see!
Liam's mum Mary spent hours, days and weeks punching love heart shaped holes into gum leaves to make confetti...smelled and looked amazing!
Little gummy love hearts everywhere!
Have no idea if the two confetti love hearts in the hair were intentional, but bonus points to Eric!
After the ceremony there was time to relax...
Apparently some people don't like to be tickled.
Time for badminton, with or without a kilt.
Whatever you call this game, Palikka, Kubb or Molkky
...everyone was loving it.
Love and shenanigans on the 3 foot diving board!
This just epitomises the zany, fun nature of this pair!
Got to agree!
The meaning behind this handmade gift was truly special.
Poor Liam is lost for words as emotion takes over.
Also celebrating 39 years of marriage on the same day, Tess' parents!
...and then it was time to kick up those heels!
Fires burned into the night keeping bodies warm but it was the love in the air that was keeping hearts warm.
To Liam and Laura,
I have had a mere glimpse into your world, but it is one to treasure and is a rare delight!
I wish you more of what you already have, 'cos it obviously makes you both grin big!
Massive hugs and love from Natsky.

Shoni's mama Corina attaches her veil.
It was then tears from father David as he sees his daughter for the first time in her dress.
The word "bitch" may or may not have been uttered for making him cry!
Shoni's bridesmaids see her for the first time to much oohing and aaaaahhhing.
James attended Woodlawn College as a student and also worked there...returning to get married made sense.
All the beautiful people arrived.
The dapper James greeted everyone as they arrived, all 150ish of them.
And then it was time for a deep breath, and a long walk to love...
Deacon Christopher Wallace was in charge of chapel proceedings.
So serious, but still slightly smiling.
And with a simple signature, it all becomes official.
And they walk away as husband and wife.
We somehow managed to all fit on the steps.
Time to enjoy the afternoon!
I thought Shoni was shy, but she suggested climbing up here and I loved that it showed off her amazing dress.
With the restored Ford Falcon.
The sun set and then it was time for the reception.
More traditions with cake cuttings and speeches.
David's eyes leaked again. Loved seeing this father-Daughter bond.
James' father Scott created laughs.
The bridal party had a few words to say too of course.
Dance as if no one is watching, as if you and your sweetheart are the only ones left in the world.
All the parents kicked up their heels too.
And then so did everyone else.
Bouquets were caught.
Games were played. I love the shoe game!
And a wonderful night was had by all.
Congratulations James and Shoni. Wishing you much love, now and always.
Hugs from Natsky.
]]>I love a beautiful wedding in the hills and last Saturday I travelled to Fernleigh to photograph the gorgeous country wedding of Colin and Jenni. There was an amazing hillside view, cute kids in tutus, a labrapoodle ring bearer, dramatic sky, a tractor ride, sheds as art, a witty MC and so much more. The crowd were the special humans that this couple love dearly and the air was rippling with love and happiness. Following is a quick peek at the day in pics...enjoy!
As the people started to fall out of the arriving mini vans, the happiness began...
Tutus and labrapoodle.
With sister in law Judy.
Tom Avery aka Blackboi played didge as the girls arrived.
Colin watches Jenni arrive....
...on a tractor of course!
Jenni and her papa Allan.
Told you it was beautiful!
Hold on tight.
Love that look!
Jo, Amanda and Kate sang beguiling harmonies. The Stone Roses never sounded so good!
And then it was time for the first smooch as husband and wife.
With Kaitlin and Brad
With fur baby Thandi.
Local artist Justin Livingston aka Julla painted up the old tin shed.
Time to get this party started with a guard of honour, complete with African drum music.
The warm setting waiting for the feast created by Shelter.
Dreamy guitar strummed throughout dinner, as played by Dani.
Then the speeches began...up first Brad...
...who then asked his sister Kaitlin to join him and continue a family tradition...
...a speech in poetry! It was most fabulous!
Colin then talked about goats!
and Jenni talked about somebody's AAA Rating!
Spreading the love with local honey made by Colin's bees!
I'm sure the laughter continued into the evening, long into the evening!
Wishing Colin and Jenni much happiness and time to enjoy their new, slower(?) lifestyle...and may the goat and the ram lock horns against the world, rather than each other!
Big love from Natsky.

Jax contemplating what the result might be?
Jenny addresses the crowd before leading them in a YES chant, complete with giggles after she commented "it sounds like an orgasm"!
Buffering, buffering...trying to get the feed happening to hear the results...
People watched screens and listened with their breath held.
Then the word went out...it was a YES...and the crowd of course went nuts!
Because love has no boundaries!
We then walked through town for lunch and happened upon Pietro Fine and his merry minstrels playing Klezmer in the streets. Nose piercing by default. Photographic prints onto butchers paper.
Apologies to all artists who have not been credited. Too much excitement and distraction on my behalf. Will have to go back, research and rectify. Not a chore at all to return to such a fabulous space!
]]>Daniel and Armela are good at making each other smile and they have surrounded themselves with similar jolly types. These include their brothers and sisters, who just happened to make up the bridal party. Hilarity ensued! Look on...
Dapper Dan with his blue eyes and his blue suit.
Dan's father Gavin has spent years restoring this gorgeous old Austin motorcar...perfect for the wedding day!
Can you tell nephew Fletcher doesn't like having his photo taken?
Nephew Isaac and niece Kaila were too busy scattering petals to pull faces!

Down Converys Lane was looking as wonderful as always.
Love the way Dan looks at Armela...there is much love between these two.
Celebrant Dot Orchard making them laugh and jump through all the right hoops to be married.
The official bits.
The merrymakers from far and wide.
OK...there is a backstory to this image. Armela wanted to do an 'old fashioned' photo where none of them smiled. I indulged because I really didn't think they were capable of straight faces for any period of time. They managed this for about 10 seconds before Armela cracked and the rest followed soon after!
Brothers Daniel, Andrew and Mitchell.
Sisters Armela, Naomi and Daphne.
Hiding from the brown snakes!
Most photos feature laughter. Very few quiet moments with these two.
Entering the reception to cheers.
Ben was the fabulous MC for the evening.
Daniel's sister Rebecca organised a game of trust..the whole photo series is ridiculous fun!
Parents of the groom Gavin and Shyrelle give a warm speech of thanks.
Parents of the bride Allan and Rose gave us an insight into the child that was Armela.
Then sisters Naomi and Daphne created more hilarity with the shoe game. Interestingly, on the really important things, these two were a matching pair!
Sibling speeches...yes this group are full of humour, constantly ribbing each other, but they also showed their softer sides with speeches full of heartfelt sentiment. It was a beautiful contrast to all the laughter.
Friends Andy and Mel performed Chasing Cars for the 1st dance.
Let the dancfloor antics begin!

The Pisco may have had something to do with it!
Cirilo and Delia

Speeches provided a lot, I mean a whole lot, of laughter!
Cake cut...with a bread knife cos it was there!
Then it was time for a dance and Mila and Alex surprised everyone with a few moves they had been practicing.
Such a wonderful day spent with this amazing group of people. The marquee was a hothouse of joy and love and it was a great beginning to a long, happy life together for Alex and Mila. And live life they will!
Congratulations to you both and I wish you much love and somehow, a bounty of unlimited frequent flyer points! Your families rock and your friends were pretty awesome too. Thanks for letting me share all the shenanigans with you. Big hugs of love...Natsky.

Be prepared for a bit of a rant.
Normally I publish photos of lovers laughing, cuddling, kissing, being openly in love on their wedding day. Yesterday I photographed an "Unwedding" for two beautiful women and sadly, at their request, I am unable to show you their faces of happiness.
They have been in a committed relationship now for 14 years, but due to our ridiculous laws, are still unable to be legally married. Though 'out' to their family and friends, they are unable to be open in their workplaces due to the real possibility of consequences, hence the no-show of faces.
I hate the fact that people have to 'come out' about their sexuality.
I hate that we feel the need for so many labels to place on people.
I hate the fact that we still live in a world where chunks of society still feel they can dictate who you can or cannot love.
I hate that these two women cannot feel free to express their love openly, anywhere, anytime for fear of negative repercussions.
I hate that same sex couples can't just get married like everyone else.
So because of all the BS, here is a photo of their hands, lightly touching in a public place...just in case.
I wish them both every happiness and I also hope that in the not too distant future, this kind of rant will be unnecessary and everyone can live and love openly and honestly.
Rant over.

Ian and Sarah both got ready at Pines on the Plateau so before we headed across the road to Down Converey's Lane for the wedding ceremony, we had a bit of a wander around the garden...time to breathe, laugh and think about what was about to happen.
In spite of the nerves there were still lots os smiles!
Sarah's younger brother Julian held on to her ever so tight as he walked her down the aisle to the waiting Ian.
Getting the tears under control!
Ian was comforting Sarah the whole way through the service, making sure she was OK, fixing stray locks of hair and holding her hand...I think concentrating on her also helped Ian with his nerves!
Wanting to be part of her human's special day, Mischa woofed her agreement that these two lovelies should be wed.

After a spread of delicious food for dinner, it was then down to some serious giggles for the speeches!
The naked cake by Rebellious Cake Co was beautifully decorated with flower's styled by Sarah's sister Rosie who also did an awesome job with Sarah's bouquet and flowers throughout the venue.

The Band!
Matty D and Lisa
Back from our honeymoon in Cambodia... simply wonderful... and finally have time to breathe!
Natalie Barovsky, we can't thank you enough for your passion, uber enthusiasm and commitment to capturing all the special moments of our wedding last month with your super keen eye for detail. It must be amazing to see the world as you do through your magical lens. We've never seen a photographer work so hard and go to such lengths to get "that" shot, although you were completely unobtrusive and never once tried to manipulate the setting or situation to accommodate your own vision or agenda. Thank you bella, you're a true artist. We so appreciate your dedication to your craft and we're so grateful to you for the love and warmth you brought to our little gathering too.
Want to capture your special moment in time? We can't recommend Photography by Natsky highly enough. A thousand thank yous Natsky... you really ARE the best x x
The tyranny of distance has meant that all my contact with this fabulous couple has been via email, telephone and Skype...thank the wedding gods for modern technology! Arriving in Yamba last Saturday, the sky was dark, really dark and I'm wondering how brave these two will be. A quick call to the very chilled Mandy confirms that the wedding ceremony is going ahead, up on the hill at the light house, as planned. I love a brave couple! So last Saturday, in the seaside town of Yamba, I met Luke and Mandy for the first time in person. They were just as much fun and as relaxed in person as via the tech and I knew straight away, this was going to be a brilliant day!
In defiance of the heavens threatening rain and the wind messing with everyone's hair and frills, Luke and Mandy were married on the hill with a great bunch of family and friends looking and smiling on. There were cute kids, magpies, laughter, an eagle, a VW combi, more laughter, a few tears, beautiful words and thankfully, no rain!
Button holes and cuff links for the boys
Lace and beading for the girls

Seeing as Luke's nickname is Spooky, we had to visit his namesake beach.
Then it was time to party at the Yamba Shores Tavern

The first few months of marriage were so hard, mate, and things have just recently begun to get a bit easier and be more like the marriage we had both wanted. So the album arriving when it did was also perfect. To go back to that day and all its emotion and beauty is only a page turn away now, so so beautiful. You have an incredible skill, insight and sensitivity, and we will always be thankful that you were able to photograph our wedding and our day and record it all so stunningly.
Sincerely, a million thankyous again Nat. Very best wishes, Brett and Teresa. :-):-):-):-)
It is so wonderful when you have this kind of reaction. I love what I do and hearing that your couples love what you create for them, is just the best!
]]>I met Lisa a few years ago through a photography commission. Straight away, her open heart and bubbly personality drew me in. While going through photos we would chat and whenever Matty D came up in conversation, it would always bring an extra twinkle to her eye and a coy tilt to her head. So last year, I was lucky enough to meet the famous Matty D and I can see why Lisa's eyes twinkle. He is one sweet man, who makes an awesome cup of tea, and the two of them together is just wonderful! They are one of those beautiful couples who make you wanna fall in love! So when we started talking about wedding plans and what they were dreaming up, I knew it would be special. But the thing is, on any wedding day, there is so much 'stuff' you just can't plan for. And for once, I am not talking about the weather!
Yes, you can break tradition and plan to meet all your guests before the ceremony and lead them into the church, with Fatboy Slim playing in the background. You can't plan for spontaneous cheering and floor stamping throughout the ceremony from the loving crowd assembled. You can plan scrumptious food, in a magical setting, in the hope that your guests will be as happy as you are, that they have shared your day. You cannot plan the emotional ride that you will all travel together. You can plan that there will be speeches, but not that your 15 year old son will steal the show with the honesty and innocence of his words.
It is the unplanned 'stuff', the extras that the people present bring...the beautiful words, the laughter and pure joy, amazing singing, tequila, full hearts, a twirl on the dance floor, the hugs, moments spent together, celebrating together, making memories...this is where the depth of special comes from.
On Saturday, in a little spot in the Byron hills, a group of amazing people gathered to celebrate the wedding of a fabulous couple and everyone came with their version of awesome 'stuff'...and it was a mighty fine time!
Matty D and Lisa arrive to a cheering crowd. Then Fatboy Slim got cranked up and they lead everyone into the church for their nuptials.
Celebrant extraordinaire Debbie Guest welcomed everyone into the love bubble!
Best man was 15 year old son Zephyr and flower girl was gorgeous little Amelie, their daughter aged 5.
Lisa's brother Simon read a Buddhist blessing.
Lisa and Matty's mums, Lyn and Anne, were the witnesses for all the official signing.
Matty's sister Abby sang sublimely throughout the signing.
All official, more cheering ensued!
I then kidnapped Matty and Lisa for photos.
Helene and Johnny from Dirty Old Town let us wander around their showroom and property for photos...thanks Lovelies.
Then it was back to Federal to celebrate!
The cute little caravan from My Vintage Lane kept everyone liquidly refreshed, with yummy food courtesy of Il Carretto and Forage & Graze.
The Federal Hall was made beautiful by Helene from Dirty Old Town and an army of family and friends!
A bit of friend craziness at the end of the night...just before the hay bales collapsed!
Congratulations Lisa and Matty. Wishing you much love and happiness and an absolutely fabulous time in Cambodia!

This is the text I received from one of my couples after their little wedding parcel arrived in the mail. Roie waited for her hubby Scobie to get home from work so they could look at their photos for the first time together...love is!
OMG! There are not words...WOW...our pics are amazing...every emotion...we laughed, we cried, our hearts were busted open by your beautiful amazing pics of our wonderful wedding day. Words do not come close to expressing the wonderful memories and snapshots in time of our day and the emotion you captured for us. Thank you, thank you. Your heart and the love for your art form is in every pic. Much much love and blessings to you.
Love Roie & Scobie
I was in macadamia country to photograph the wedding of Holly and Darren, a couple who believe in love at first sight. They made the trip up from Sydney, to the macca farm Holly's parents call home. They were joined by friends and family scattered from Australia wide and a few from NZ and the UK to keep it interesting!
My heart melted at the cute bridal party made entirely of 5 nieces and a nephew, all under the age of 10. It melted at the tears, the laughter and the commitment so obvious between Holly and Darren. It melted at the love that surrounds them from those that were watching on. It melted at the beautiful setting for their day and the magic that had been created by all involved. It was just beautiful!
The adorable Rosie started proceedings as the youngest flower girl.
Proud papa Andy walked Holly through the trees...
...towards Darren...
...under the gorgeous arbour amongst the macadamia trees...
...and all sealed with a kiss!
Holly's parents, Andy and Juliet, did an amazing job getting the farm ready...it was picture perfect!
The lilies were out on the lake and the water hens did a fly over to celebrate.
Lunch was under the trees...such a fabulous setting.
Wishing you both endless happiness and may the laughter and happy tears continue!
Love and hugs...Natsky.

]]>Last night saw another fabulous event being held in Lismore's Back Alley Gallery.
THREAD was a fashion catwalk spectacular featuring local designers, Tafe costume and fashion students and local fashion retailers. Gretel Killeen was the night's emcee with entertainment provided by local talent The No Frills Twins and Tommy Franklin the Dancing Man. Proceeds from the evening will go to local cancer charity, Under the Red Dress Project.

A group of wonder women gathered, dressed predominantly in red and all manner of shoe finery, to strut the block and raise awareness for the cancer charity, Under The Red Dress. The charity will be the benefactor of proceeds from the upcoming Thread Fashion Event to be held on October 11th in the Back Alley Gallery. Our little stroll was to promote both the event and the charity. It was also a fun way for local Stella Network members to arrive at their final destination for their monthly meeting...and a damn fine excuse to wear heels!
Louise and Callum's day was relaxed and real, just like them. No pretentious fanfare or over the top theatrics...just two young lovers deeply in love, committing to each other. There was a lot of warmth and laughter throughout the whole day with the reception becoming a celebration of good times with good people. I drove home to Lismore after the wedding with a heart full of happiness, sure that these two would go the distance. Congratulations Callum & Louise!

For the past 2 days the Fast Track music machine has been in town checking out our local singing and dancing talent. Finals were held last night and the girls had a clean sweep, with 12 year old Hannah Parrington taking 1st place and twins Deana & Julia as runner ups.
To celebrate, a mini concert was held at the Lismore Con. Jumping the stage were the Lismore winners, local and most experienced rockers, the Unforgiven and a few winners from all those TV talent shows...names like Krishool, Taylor Henderson, Jai Waetford, Maya Weiss and Vivika......names totally lost on me but the screams from the gathered crowd would indicate they are a big deal!
Maya, Krishool and Vivika judged the awards with the help of our fabulous mayor Jenny Dowell!

4 days before the wedding I had a call from Josephine, mother of the bride, frantically looking for a photographer. It is spring wedding season, so all us photographers are pretty busy at the moment, but with some juggling I was able to clear some hours and agreed to photograph the wedding.
2 days later I met the happy couple, Brett and Teresa. I immediately loved them because they were open and real. I could also see Brett just wanted to make this day the most amazing experience he could for his sweetheart Teresa, who is one of the most humble, yet big hearted people I have ever met. They are awesome people.
So the wedding day arrives and it is one of the most memorable I have ever experienced. So much love in such a small group of people and this photographer teared up...often! The heartstrings were playing a merry old tune all day in the presence of a family who have been through a lot and managed to remember what was important...eachother. There was laughter, tears, cute kids, wise kids, more tears and a general warm, snuggly blanket of love around everything, all afternoon. I think I OD'd on joy if that is possible!
Anyway, I am so glad Josephine made that call, that I answered and I could have one of those moments. Thank you.
Gorgeous grand daughter Josie wanted to help...

Congratulations Brett & Teresa on a beautiful wedding day and for your family of amazing human beings.
May your love continue to grow and colour your days in iridescent rainbows! Keep smiling and stay shiny.
Massive hugs...Natsky.

David and Rowena, aka Scobie & Roie, crafted a heart-felt, inclusive ceremony with their celebrant Oceana, held on beautiful, sunny Belongil beach. Here guests joined in a warm up circle, sharing feelings and memories about this gorgeous couple, bringing everyone together into a shared heart space before the ceremony began. Then as the waves danced along the shore, these two beautiful souls spoke words of love and commitment to each other and also to the new family they were creating. There was the holding of hands, hearts connecting, blessings on rings, stone stupas and the Velveteen Rabbit even made an appearance. This sentimental softie of a photographer struggled quite a few times to stay in control of the tears as I photographed one of the most sincere, from-the-heart ceremonies I have ever beheld. I love their bravery in having a ceremony that left the well trodden path of "this is the way it is supposed to be done". I love that they sprinkled symbols and sentiment the whole way through. I love that all the guests spoke blessings during the ceremony. I love that to finish proceedings, guests formed a tunnel of love, which Scobie & Roie walked through and came out at the other end as soul mates, kindred spirits, best friends and now husband and wife! It was amazing!
I will stop gushing now...here are a few photos from their day....

All around me people were taking photos and video and I felt such relief in knowing that I didn't have to worry about getting the ring shot, capturing that first kiss or any other photo that I have on my mental wedding check list. I could just be. I could just enjoy. I could just be a part of my friend's wondrous life event without having to document it. It was beautiful. My heart was so full it was fit to explode!
It now has me thinking about all the weddings that I do photograph and how often I watch people so busy trying to get all those perfect shots, that they forget to share the celebration and join in the lovefest of their family and friends. They're so connected to Facebook and Instagram that they are disconnected from the event and their emotions. I'm not saying people shouldn't take photos. By all means take a few quick pics of your own, but then let the pro photographer get the shots, so you can get back to why you're really there...the wedding of your friends. Be there with them. Celebrate with them. Make memories with them. Laugh. Skip. Hug. Sing. Cry. Dance. Just. Be.
We went for a drive to Waipio Valley a few days later and I got a few pics of the newly weds anyway!

]]>Over the past few years Liam and Amy have loved their holidays in Evan's Head, so when it came time to choosing a wedding location, their first choice was Chinaman's Beach. Last Saturday family and friends from far and wide, including Norway, trekked down to this beautiful slice of the North Coast to celebrate Liam and Amy 'getting hitched'. The usual weather concerns were forgotten as the sun shone down, maybe a little too brightly as many had that extra pink glow of sunburn! "Head On" also features 99 animals in a circle, though all wolves this time and the circle is a little more abstract shall we say! Absolutely loved this!

To start it off with a bang, Jimmy Willing asked me to photograph his show with the Hick-Ups and the Buffalo Girls, featuring Miss Bertie Page. It's a crazy, high energy mix up of cowboy punk meets burlesque meets Napoleon and is always a fun night. I was curious to see how the very young demographic of Falls would receive it. Those that ventured into the big top loved it and got rather animated with their own versions of the can-can and cowboy moves. Was a hoot!
It made me smile to see familiar faces in the crowd, a whole year older and taller since last year's carols. The weather was kind and while the sky put on it's own stunning light show, the rain that was up there didn't fall!
Here are a few snaps from the night's shenanigans...

Congratulations beautiful people. I look forward to hearing updates of your amazing life together!

Final touches will be added to many pieces over the next 10 days or so. Magical to watch them appear and evolve...worth a walk in the rain!

A morning in the life of Little D...roll on the floor and suck my hand, giggle at mum and dad doing silly things, eat some food, play this super fun sheet game, roll around a bit more before going down for a nap...all the while feeling very smug in the knowledge that I am very loved!
Cute aren't I!
Life is so much fun...
Bit of a chat with dad...
...while mum hangs the washing out...
Hey mum, I'm flying!
The sheet game rocks!
Check out a few pics from this weekend's stage or better still go for a wander through the alleys themselves...something there for everyone.
Ben contemplate the tag-covered wall and the logistics of painting in the pouring rain...
This work featured overlaid stencils...
...inspired by the natural forms of Lichen.
Wet and a little dark in the rain...
Our amazing Mayor Jenny Dowell popped in of course to have a chat and tweet some pics of the event...love your work Jenny!
Colour all finished just before dark on Saturday afternoon...
...before the sun came out on Sunday morning and Ben could start on the black outline to finish.
The finished piece.
Tomorrow sees the beginning of stage four of the Back Alley Gallery project with street artist Ben Foster coming to play on our alley walls. Even on a drab grey day like today, those alley walls are bright and colourful. Can't wait to see what Ben adds to the mix.
Meantime here are a few quick pics I took on my wander...
Great for yoga
even the guys are catered for
lotsa laughs!
bff!
By unusual, I mean that the lovely Michael & Yao have been happily married for the past two years! Saturday's wedding was the Aussie wedding, following their previous nuptials two years earlier in Yao's home 'village' of four million people back in China. From all reports they were happy and in love the first time down the aisle and on their second trip it was obvious to all, that the level of love and happiness has only deepened. These two may have been born a great distance apart, but their connection is one of the closest I have been lucky enough to witness!
A few photos from Saturday and you may get an inkling...
The beautiful Our Lady of the Rosary Church at Alstonville...I love the flocked wallpaper behind the alter.
This is just at the door of the church when leaving, just before they begin life as man and wife....again!
As a total contrast to the urban sprawl of her homeland, Yao really wanted to feature trees and the beautiful North Coast environment in their wedding photos...cue massive fig tree. We also ventured down to the ever popular Boulders Beach for some ocean views...of course we were the third bridal party to arrive! Thankfully there are plenty of amazing backdrops to go around and everyone had fun in their own piece of paradise. I also find it interesting that even though we were all there at the same time, the photos from each wedding are all so different!
Arriving at the beach with bundles of balloons provided some 'Up' moments.
The fun and at times unpredictable bridal party!
Some quiet time out.
One last smooch and then it was time to venture on to the reception held at the fantastic By the River in Ballina.
Waiting to be announced formally before entering the reception, Michael, Yao and their fun bridal party.
The sun slips over the horizon by the riverside
The jukebox played tunes til the band pumped up later in the evening
We had a photo booth with some fun props for people to get creative with
Birthday girl Michelle with her sis Lisa, who did a fantastic job with all the decorations for the night
Great party atmosphere
Then it was time for some giggles. Did somebody yell speech!
Cupcakes!
A few lanterns were released into the evening sky...make a wish!
Band Mossy Rocks get the party started with a little help
Since then, Zac & Ash have been busy creating a little family...introducing the cute-enough-to eat Harrison!
Told you he was cute!
Harrison is adorable and his laugh makes me smile inside!

So here are a few of my Faves from our session...
The serious soulful Kieran
Having always had an appreciation for beautiful paper, a fascination for paper folding (though not origami strangely) and an endearment for bound books, I am not surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend of brain cell bashing as I learned some basics for making my own books. I have a huge desire to be able to offer my clients something handmade with love, instead of the same old industry presentation for wedding images and DVD's. I now believe with some practice and some imagination I will be able to achieve this...so excited!
These are my first attempts and it was so amazing to start with papers, boards, glue and thread and end up with a proper, turn the page book. It was like being a kid again and doing a craft project for the first time....wow, look what I made!
My first was a woven accordion book featuring photos of my nephling!
I can still take the pics out and I love that you interact with the book more than if you were just turning the pages...
We made a book featuring a decorative spine called a Rope Bind...
But my favourite was something called a Coptic Bind...this rocked my world...
I used wallpaper for this cover....loving the possibilities for recycling...
All hand stitched by me!
Recycled paper for the end papers...the stitching is exposed throughout the whole book....
It is a very zen practice and one that I think will be a good counterbalance to the often hectic pace of a photo shoot. Looking forward to exploring this fantastic art and seeing what I can create.
If you are interested in learning bookbinding, Jo presents workshops and is a brilliant teacher. She is generous with her encouragement, knowledge, resources and materials, goes at your pace and is able to explain things so you "get it". I am looking forward to my next chapter!

I rarely take a photo of a full car at these things, always drawn to the details...dashboards, wheel rims, gearsticks, tail fins, front grills...these old cars have so much style. So sharing a shot I took of an old Impala's rear end!
Had so much fun spending some time amongst the salt, sand and water and filled with happiness as I watched the love and strong connections between this group of four. Precious!

Quick...Santa's coming!
Slightly upstaged by the jolly guy in red, Big Dog also showed up to give out hugs...
When did the spelling of Noel change?
This little guy was so cute I could have watched him all night!
Lisa Hunt injected some soul into the evening...and gave me (and I think many others too) a break from the carols!
Wasn't just the kids having a great time!
Lisa Hunt's percussionist proved to be a flexible kinda guy...Congas and high leg kicks!
This dude was one awesome groover and shaker...
Jelly fish fireworks!

No doubt there was some great music happening all over town, but it has been ages since I just sat and watched the world go by...and I was craving it.
My gazing was short, but sweet and as a bonus I got some fun people pics of humans enjoying themselves. I do sooooo love living on the North Coast!
Traffic Controller!
The spider's webs in Mullum are very colourful...
Young and old cackled at the antics of The Pitts Family Circus!
A 4WD truck totally covered in messages and names...Like the sentiment of this one...
What could be more fun than a team of awesome coming at you!
I play roller derby and our team, The NRRD Battlestars, travelled to Coffs Harbour over the weekend to play in the last round of NCDC bouts against the Coffs Coast Derby Dolls. The Battlestars won and made it a clean sweep, being undefeated for the whole season...woohoo!
These women are inspiring with their skill and athleticism and they are a generous bunch with their time, experience and hearts.
Want to get involved...go here!
]]>The event recognises the amazing effort made by a group of people dedicated to making our part of the world a better place for those that live in it, especially those that are in need of a helping hand. With over 60 nominations this year the judges had a hard time choosing the winners and shows just how many amazing people we have in this area. Congratulations to all nominees and extra sauce for the winners!
Happy Birthday to our fabulous Mayor Jenny Dowell, who celebrated her birthday at the ball.
So many fun faces!
The evening's MC, the inimitable Mandy Nolan, had everyone cackling!
Fantastic entertainment....
The attending award winners...big congrats to all!

Time to party!!!!
We all hopped on the Big Red Bus for a joyride and hoped that the heavens wouldn't rain on our parade.
Travelling to Ballina Light House
We're here!
So far so good with the weather...
The clouds got darker and the thunder started rolling in...
...and then it rained, thankfully with everyone safely inside the bus.
So then it was a quick trip back to the venue before everyone made their entrance from the door of the bus.
A few arrivals by car...
...then down to the riverfront for a few more group photos while the rain had eased.
Time to head indoors and get this show on the road...
Students are formally announced to family and friends.
...and then it was time for some fun!
Congratulations to all of you. Hope you have fun chasing your dreams and exploring the big wide world.
Cheers...Natsky.

Such a beautiful wedding for Gordon and Allison and I loved photographing every second!
Lyndoch on the Lake is an amazing setting and I would recommend it if you are looking for classic, French vistas as a backdrop for your day. The local horses are pretty friendly too and happy to pose for photos!!!

Since then, Jay & Jess have travelled a long and at times difficult road to reach their wedding day, but what a day it was. Rain, hail and shine...this wedding had it all!
High emotion and buckets of love accompanied us the whole day, as we laughed and cried watching this young couple declare to the world how much they love each other. It was obvious in the way Jay looks at Jess that he adores her and I loved being there to watch it all through a lens.
Here's a sneak peek...
There was an audible gasp when proud papa Chris walked Jess down the aisle...
Two and a half years...but worth the wait...
The fun bridal party of family and friends...
This is what true love looks like!
]]>After a bit of a chat to work out the theme she would like to follow, she decided on "Reflections". So then it was into Lovemore town to chase the illusive second impression on the Wednesday.
I set my camera up to mimic her ISO 400 black and white film and off we went. So these are a few of my faves from our wander.
Can't wait to see what she came up with as I think some of her shots were rather inspired and interesting. Was definitely much fun to just wander with a camera with no "must get" shots on the agenda.

And so we reach the final day of a crazy, fast paced Bluesfest. The music has been prolific, varied and always of a high standard. So bring on the final fling!
A subtle, soulful experience to begin, with Botswana singer songwriter Vusi Mahlesala enthralling all with his sticky voice.
In complete contrast, was the rockin' blues guitar of blonde bombshell Joanne Shaw Taylor. She had many a male hot under the collar with her hair flicking, but more importantly she could play that guitar like a demon!
There has been a fair bit of buzz of late for a new bunch o' boys called the Dawes. Have to admit I was totally distracted and completely intrigued by the face-pulling antics of the drummer...he had me mesmerised...I think they were good...the crowd cheered anyway.
This is more like it. Tribali took to the stage and pumped out some energy to get your body boogeying! Ash....if you're reading this check them out...definitely your kinda groove.
Check out these eyes! Dubmarine were another great surprise...fantastic music and visually interesting....lots going on and the crowd loved 'em!
More eyes...this time Dweezil Zappa from Zappa plays Zappa of course. Loved their approach to Zappa's music.
Yeah, so I went back for a second funking serve of Maceo Parker! I still think the guy on keys looks like an FBI agent...
Almost to the end now. Next up were the ole faves of many...Yes. I just wanted to know where was Roger Dean?
To finish with a bang, a loud, hilarious, fun bang, it was time for some more Melbourne Ska Orchestra...they even obliged with the James Bond Theme and A Message To You Rudy. Thanks peoples.
And so the 5 day musical quest that is Bluesfest comes to an end and all I am left with is hundreds of photos, a tired body and an amazing bunch of memories to carry around until next time! Thanks to all involved in staging the event (and that is an army of thousands) and all who made my weekend amazing. Big thumbs up to my husband who sent me off with a full belly each day and a packed lunch to keep me going and spent his long weekend without me...I missed you too.
Til next year..cheers!
Missed Betty LaVette yesterday after Seasick Steve's PA malfunction. Turns out a virus on a flash stick supplied by one of Steve's crew actually ruined 2 mixing desks...eek! Back to Betty...66 years young and fantastic on stage...this lady has lived...
Then the lovely Natasha from the Audreys serenaded all with her siren song...loved the twinkle in her eye.
Time for a second helping of the very funked up Mr Maceo Parker!
Josh Pyke turned the tables on his adoring crowd atking a pic of the audience at the beginning of his performance.
Serious fun was had by all who caught the Melbourne Ska Orchestra...high energy, upbeat and visually exciting...loved these guys and gal!
Natalie from Blue King Brown got all rootsy on us...
Local hero John Butler took to the stage amidst a huge amount of noise from the crowd and didn't disappoint.
While we couldn't see him that well lurking in the shadows, Shane MacGowan and the Pogues certainly had the crowd jumping...still can't believe I heard them live!
...and then before you know it, the festival is almost over with only one day remaining. Whatever will I do without all this live music to sustain me?
]]>
Halfway already...having a brilliant time, but the body is weary...suck it up sweetheart...you've got shooting to do!
A few on-stage technical glitches for day three and a tight schedule because of the delays...missed one or two acts as a consequence of overlaps...hopefully catch Betty LaVette day four.
The day's highlight came watching Brian Setzer and crew having a three way acoustic bass duel....absolutely awesome! Only wish I could have been in the pit and getting pics, but then I wouldn't have enjoyed the music as much...it's all about balance I 'spose. One thing we have noticed as photographers, is that by the time the artists are really pumping and getting into it, we're gone...it's a bummer only having that smidge at the beginning of each performance. I am still very thankful to be there at all though.
So, started the day with a dose of Seasick Steve. He had sound problems. This dude is so cool though...first he entertained by just singing unplugged, a-capella, then he had a few swigs from his red wine bottle and then decided to go and meet his fans. Yep...he got down off stage, strode up and started shaking their hands and "thanks for coming"! Wicked dude!
Sound fixed...good to go...
Then Steve invites his mate out who is none other than John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame...woohoo!
After all that excitement we needed to calm down with the quiet musings of Justin Townes Earle.
Time to up the tempo again, with a trip to Africa with Angelique Kidjo...beautiful woman, beautiful voice.
Angelique was then book ended by Steve Earle, Justin's dad! Remember Copperhead Road?
Remember those runaway boys the Stray Cats? Brian Setzer played with a whole lot of rockabilly raucousness last night which certainly had me jumping in my boots. The three bass duel off was the day's highlight...thank you boys!
Back on the pace roller coaster, it was time for a slow down, so out came sunshine superman himself, Donovan.
Then...drumroll please....the long awaited, highly anticipated...Mr john Fogherty! He was back to doing what he does best...Creedence and last night the crowd was treated to the whole of Cosmo's Factory...woohoo!
I think he enjoyed himself!
]]>
So I have compiled my little shopping list of musical goodness for the day...I know exactly who I wanna see and where and when. Ate the big bowl of noodles with chicken and spinach Nico made me and he has packed me a lunch for later, so the body is all fuelled up...let's go!
Was determined to get out into the crowd a little more today and soak up the atmosphere...it would seem everyone is enjoying the festival. Lots of smiling faces and grooving bods moving to the music...yay!
Highlight for day two, was Buddy Guy, one talented entertainer. He had the crowd captured and I'm sure they would have loved it even if he sat there eating a sandwich, cos he would have made it great!
First up, the sublime pluckings and strummings of Harry Manx.
The energy was then amped up for guitar mad man Joe Satriani.
Bit of a guitar theme happening it would seem...the Backsliders!
The crowds enjoying Lachlan Bryan.
Then Rome arrived to do a set with Sublime, below, and ripped the place apart.
Then to lighten things up it was time for young hearts to run free with Candi Staton...
Loved him so much the day before, I went back for a second helping of Trombone Shorty. Got out into the crowd this time and they were loving him as much as I was.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better...Buddy Guy...my highlight for day two and man did he have fun!
Then it was back to the fast and furious energy of the Specials to relive some of my teenage years...
Time for a sweet, chocolatey snack...the smooth voice of Keb Mo.
Earth Wind and Fire then took us on a wild trip to Boogie Wonderland...disco is so much fun!
And to finish the night in classic style...Crosby, Stills and Nash...amazing harmonies still!
Huge day!

It's warm, some would even say hot. The car park is starting to fill and the music hungry fans are starting to stream into the "paddock". No rain so far, so the normally obligatory gumboots in the boot of my car, are currently unnecessary and will hopefully stay that way.
Check in to media area and get my little blue wristband which gives me access to each act for their first three songs only. We are behind the scenes of the festival, moving from tent to tent with our minders, using service and access roads. It is strange to be disconnected from the throng of the crowd, the atmosphere brewing outside in the festival proper. Day two will call for some exploring outside of this inner perimeter me thinks.
The Arakwal Opening Ceremony and welcome to country.
Was told I must check out Trombone Shorty and so glad I did...will be back for more on day two. My fave discovery of day one.
Alabama 3 were fanatstic...
Next up was the dark stage of Dave Bromberg...maybe he didn't want us to see how battered his guitar was...
Then it was time to catch Ziggy Marley. To see any of his pics you will need to check out next week's Echo, cos that's the only place I'm allowed to publish him!
My Morning Jacket put on a great visual show....and the music was pretty alright too.
The audience went nuts for John Hiatt.
Maybe Lucinda Williams has been singing too many sad love songs cos she didn't smile very much...hope she got happier through the set...the crowd were certainly throwing love at her!
Cold Chisel played with a lot of sweat and screaming fans as the headline act...sorry but Jimmy screaming doesn't do it for me...maybe I'm an alien not an Aussie!
Last night's audience at Lismore's new and improved Star Court Theatre were treated to a serve of ethereal voices in the form of three beautiful, talented women who are Seeker Lover Keeper.
Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby and Sally Seltmann floated onto the stage and proceeded to mesmerise all with beautiful harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and magical music.
Vocals tinged with a raspy, crackly, sweet syrup flitted around tinkling piano keys and the quiet plucking of guitar strings, before riding a drum and bass line to almost orchestral density, as a tambourine jangled across it all...and you held your breath listening to every little bit, hoping it would surround you with its delicate strength forever...thinking please don't let it end.
For Lismore last night it did end, but the tour continues and future audiences are in for a treat.
As the beginning of a new life for the Star Court Theatre as a performance venue...what a rebirth! Theatre manager Heather Rose, has some fantastic ideas and plans for this beautiful old venue and from what we have seen so far, I'm looking forward to the renaissance. What better stage for a bunch of country punk rockers than a 1937 Federal truck! Brought back to life by restorer Alan Keys, the flatbed of this ole truck was the stage for Jimmy and the Hick-Ups to perform live at this year's Lismore National Show. From inside the rodeo ring, Jimmy did his usual, entertaining gig, backed by the fantastic Real Gone Hick-Ups. Circus the Singing Dog, also made a guest appearance.
Will all be happening again tonight, Saturday Oct 22nd, so get along little doggies and have yourself some fun!

So...off to a little ole country church today, with the emphasis on old...peeling paint, holey windows, rusted guttering and lots of cobwebs.
Was shooting some black and white stills for use in a music video for rockers Roy Wilder's & Jesse Balfour's band, WILD JESTER. Had so much fun!
Just had a quick look at the day's shots and thought I would share a few that have immediately grabbed my eye...enjoy!
