The wedding of Lisa and Matty D...feeling so much right now. When two beautiful souls decide to get married, you know it's going to be special. I just hadn't conceived the depth of the special!
I met Lisa a few years ago through a photography commission. Straight away, her open heart and bubbly personality drew me in. While going through photos we would chat and whenever Matty D came up in conversation, it would always bring an extra twinkle to her eye and a coy tilt to her head. So last year, I was lucky enough to meet the famous Matty D and I can see why Lisa's eyes twinkle. He is one sweet man, who makes an awesome cup of tea, and the two of them together is just wonderful! They are one of those beautiful couples who make you wanna fall in love! So when we started talking about wedding plans and what they were dreaming up, I knew it would be special. But the thing is, on any wedding day, there is so much 'stuff' you just can't plan for. And for once, I am not talking about the weather!
Yes, you can break tradition and plan to meet all your guests before the ceremony and lead them into the church, with Fatboy Slim playing in the background. You can't plan for spontaneous cheering and floor stamping throughout the ceremony from the loving crowd assembled. You can plan scrumptious food, in a magical setting, in the hope that your guests will be as happy as you are, that they have shared your day. You cannot plan the emotional ride that you will all travel together. You can plan that there will be speeches, but not that your 15 year old son will steal the show with the honesty and innocence of his words.
It is the unplanned 'stuff', the extras that the people present bring...the beautiful words, the laughter and pure joy, amazing singing, tequila, full hearts, a twirl on the dance floor, the hugs, moments spent together, celebrating together, making memories...this is where the depth of special comes from.
On Saturday, in a little spot in the Byron hills, a group of amazing people gathered to celebrate the wedding of a fabulous couple and everyone came with their version of awesome 'stuff'...and it was a mighty fine time!

Then it was back to Federal to celebrate!
