My husband was born and raised in Hong Kong and our daily life is coloured with many Chinese influences. For this reason I was very excited to be photographing the wedding of Simone and Hsien. Their wedding celebrations had many Chinese embellishments, including the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, in honour of Hsien's Chinese heritage. Here is a sneak peek....
The Chinese symbol for "double happiness".
Dragon Tea is made by the "lucky woman", in this case, Hsien's aunty.
Colin, Hsien's father, explains the tradition of the tea ceremony to close family and friends.
The couple pass tea to family elders.
In exchange, the elders give to the couple Lai See, lucky red envelopes containing money or jewellery.
The double happy couple!
The following day was the wonderful wedding day...
Father Mac officiated at the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Alstonville.
It was then a quick journey to Simone's family home in the fantastic ole VDubber!
Chinese lanterns decorated the marquee with falling ivy a symbol of longevity, friendship and affection.
As the night crept in, a wonderland of light emerged...
...a truly magical day.
Wishing you both mountains of happiness and I send you a traditional Chinese blessing for your wedding.
